The Ridgefield Raptors open their 2026 West Coast League season against their friends north of the border, the Nanaimo NightOwls.
The NightOwls and Raptors will face off for the first time since 2022, the NightOwls’ first season in the WCL. Nanaimo claimed the series 2-1 at Serauxmen Stadium on Vancouver Island.
The Raptors seek to bounce back from a 24-30 record in 2025, missing the WCL playoffs for only the second time in team history. Overall, they’ve been one of the most consistent teams since joining the league in 2019, all under the tutelage of head coach Chris Cota.
The Raptors will have to make up for the loss of their top two hitters from last year, Noah Karliner (UCSB) and Andrew Estrella (Loyola Marymount). Karliner was the Raptors’ top pure hitter last year, leading the team with 13 homers and hitting .345. Estrella drove in 41 RBIs and hit .340 over 39 games.
The Raps made sure to reload this season with elite talent coming from the top conferences and some hungry players looking to prove themselves in the WCL.
The Power Four players come from schools like Michigan and Oregon. But don’t forget about players from West Coast heavyweights like Fresno State and UC Santa Barbara. This roster is ready to return to the WCL playoffs!
