The Ridgefield Raptors were the first West Coast League team in 2026 to clinch a playoff berth. The Raptors played the most complete first half, winning 17 of their final 21 games after a 3-3 start.
The Raptors have the top-ranked offense in the WCL, leading the league in home runs (26), extra-base hits (81), RBIs (178) and slugging percentage (.416). It’s been a group effort, but the lineup has been powered by JT Summers (Oregon) and Zach Wadas (Loyola Marymount).
Wadas is second in the WCL with six home runs and leads the team with a .367 batting average and 33 hits. Summers leads the WCL with 30 RBIs to go along with a team-high 10 doubles.
“It’s been pretty nice having him hit behind me this season,” Summers said. “Nobody wants to face him either.”
Ridgefield swept the Springfield Drifters 15-5, 3-0 and 3-1 this weekend to head into the second half on a four-game winning streak. The Raptors won seven of their nine series in the first half and locked up their fifth playoff appearance in seven years.
The West Coast League season is split into two 27-game halves. The first-half and second-half winners in each division automatically qualify for the playoffs, along with the next two teams with the best overall records that have not already earned a berth.
The Raptors will host two nonleague games this week, with an added rest day Wednesday. They take on the Redmond Dudes on Tuesday and the Northwest Star Nighthawks on Thursday. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
Tuesday’s game will be McDonald’s Family Night, presented by McDonald’s of Ridgefield. Be sure to stop by the McDonald’s booth on the third-base concourse to see what they have in store. In addition, the first 130 fans to order at the main concessions stand behind home plate will receive a free $3 item of their choice, courtesy of Washington’s Lottery.
