The Ridgefield Raptors have won three of their last four games and welcome the Bend Elks to the RORC this weekend to wrap up their 6-game home stretch.
Ridgefield closed its series against the Marion Berries last night.The Raptors opened the series with an 8-3 victory Tuesday behind a strong pitching performance. Gavin Moran (UC Santa Barbara) tossed four innings, allowing two runs while striking out three. The bullpen duo of Max Schneider (Loyola Marymount) and Tyler Walker (Washington) combined for five scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit and striking out seven.
The offense carried over its momentum from Sunday’s historic 31-run, 27-hit outburst, as six of the Raptors’ nine starters recorded multiple hits in the series opener.
Wednesday’s contest was a much different story, turning into a pitcher’s duel. The Berries edged Ridgefield 2-1 after Marion second baseman Kyson Barney delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning.
The Raptors brought the tying run to first base with one out in the ninth, but a pop out and strikeout ended the comeback attempt.
The Raptors clinched the series against the Berries last night with a 14-6 victory. Oregon State product Josh Proctor led the Raptors offense going 2-5 including a 3-run homerun in the 3rd inning to pull the Raptors ahead of the Berries 6-3. Newcomer Aaron Louis put the game out of reach with a 3-run bomb of his own to put the Raptors up 11-3 in the bottom of the 4th.
This weekend marks the first time Bend visits Ridgefield this season. The clubs have already met six times, splitting the season series 3-3. Bend claimed two of three games in June before the Raptors answered by taking last weekend’s series, highlighted by the club’s record-setting 31-0 victory.
Now, Ridgefield looks to build on that momentum while giving fans plenty to look forward to off the field as well.
