The Ridgefield Raptors are happy to announce the signings of two Grand Canyon University Antelopes. Sophomore pitcher Zach Barnes and freshman infielder Jonny Weaver have been added to this summer’s lineup in Ridgefield.
“Zach will see action in a relief role this year after being a starter for Chandler-Gilbert CC last season,” said GCU Coach Gregg Wallis. “He logged over 80 innings of work as a freshman and we will look for him to give us depth on the mound coming out of the pen and as a spot-starter this season.”
Regarding weaver, Wallis stated, “Jonny is an exciting athlete with plus speed and wiry strength. He has been playing up the middle in the fall and early spring, splitting time between shortstop and second base. Offensively, he has pop and is aggressive with the bat. He will be a big part of the future of GCU baseball.”
“We are very excited to have these two Lopes join the Raptors roster for the summer of 2019 to play in front of Southwest Washington fans,” said Ridgefield General Manager Gus Farah.
Please join us in welcoming Zach and Jonny to our 2019 Raptors roster!
