After much deliberation, and a careful analysis of the facts available, it is with heavy hearts that the Ridgefield Raptors staff is announcing the cancellation of our 2020 season. While our goal has always been to play, and provide a safe and entertaining gathering place that would act as a return to normalcy in our community, the most recent concentration of positive COVID-19 cases in Clark County has made a return to play not feasible for our organization. This decision comes after many months of planning and communication with local and state authorities who were nothing short of amazing in their willingness to help us pursue our vision of being a community leader committed to being able to offer a safe venue, while also bringing back the pride of cheering on Southwest Washington’s Home Team to our fans. We thank all of Raptor Nation including our players, supporters, sponsors, host families, and local leaders who have been a source of encouragement for us every step of the way.
The Ridgefield Raptors and the West Coast League are excited to come back stronger in 2021 and welcome the newest addition to the league in Nanaimo, BC, which will be the 13th team in the WCL. Raptor Nation you are the reason we operate, and we cannot wait to show you what we have in store for 2021!
For further questions, including questions regarding how this cancellation impacts ticket holders, sponsors and events, please see our COVID-19 FAQ page or visit www.ridgefieldraptors.com. We will be contacting sponsors and ticket holders individually next week.
