Ridgefield Raptors Manager Chris Cota is proud to announce the addition of Alex McGarry from Oregon State University. The Columbia River High School graduate and Vancouver native is a power hitting left-handed bat that plays both first base and outfield.
While the 2020 season limited Alex to only 14 games, he was still able to collect six doubles and three home runs. In 2019, Alex was a 1st team All Pac-12 performer.
“One of the most beautiful things about the West Coast League is that on any given night, you are looking at a couple of players who, in a few short years, will be on a Major League Baseball team,” Cota said. “Alex has as good a shot as anyone to achieve that dream.”
“Our goal as a staff is always to help every player that wears a Raptor uniform get all the things they need while they are with us to inch closer to being as good as they can be,” Cota added. “It’s icing on the cake for us to have a player of Alex’s caliber that also happens to be from our backyard. I’ve got a feeling he’s going to make plenty of fans happy this summer by sending souvenir home run balls onto our right field berm.”
Let’s all welcome Alex into Raptor Nation!
