After an opening day 10-6 victory over the Cowlitz Black Bears, the Raptors now set
their sights on an early divisional series against the Corvallis Valley Knights.
Yesterday the 2023 Ridgefield roster was introduced to the community of Ridgefield in
their first game of the season versus their sister club, the Cowlitz Black Bears.
The four run victory was achieved by offensive production throughout the entire
lineup. The Raptors were able to produce nine hits, highlighted by a solo home run by
Isaac Lovings. On the defensive side, the Raptors cycled through seven different
pitchers with no arm going more than two innings. The Raptors committed five errors
over the course of nine innings leading to six runs being scored by Cowlitz. Of the six
Cowlitz runs scored, only one earned run was assessed to a Ridgefield pitcher.
Now the Raptors will reset and focus on a three game series against the reigning West
Coast League Champions, the Corvallis Valley Knights. Corvallis has been a Goliath in
the WCL, winning the championship the past six years. Last season against Corvallis, the
Raptors went 4-2 against the tough team during the regular season. However, in the
divisional championship game on August 13 th , Ridgefield was knocked out of the post
season by Corvallis—the eventual winners.
The first divisional series will be a test for the Raptors. Game one of the series is
scheduled for June 2nd at 6:35PM PDT. Tickets and live stream are available on
