The Ridgefield Raptors will take to the road to Yakima this weekend for a three-game series against the Yakima Valley Pippins. The Friday and Saturday games are at 7:05 and Sunday is at 6:05.
The series comes on the heels of Ridgefield’s series victory against the Corvallis Knights, the first series win over the Knights in Raptors team history. Ridgefield had been 0-14 versus Corvallis over the first two seasons of Raptors baseball.
The series finale is in Corvallis tonight at 6:35 with the winner taking the first half title and a playoff berth. The Corvallis Knights have not been swept in their last 40 series, dating back to June 2019, but the Raptors could earn the sweep with a win tonight.
Regardless of the outcome, Ridgefield will be in good position to earn a second consecutive playoff berth, and the second half of the season gets underway the day after the first half finale.
Ridgefield played at Yakima Valley last season early in the summer and were swept, so this series is a chance for redemption at Yakima County Stadium.
Next week includes plenty of home games, with Bellingham and Springfield coming to town during Ridgefield’s six-game homestand. After that week, however, Ridgefield will only have five WCL games at home the rest of the regular season.
